The GSTPA today released a compilation of the highest number of rules violations recorded by individual players on a single hole during the 2025 season.

The GSTPA Tour Announces 2025 “Bad Eighteen” – Rules Violations Edition

In keeping with its long-standing commitment to recognizing procedural excellence, the GSTPA Tour has officially released the 2025 Bad Eighteen (Compliance Category).

Unlike traditional leaderboards, the Bad Eighteen does not celebrate score.
It celebrates interaction.

Each selection represents the highest recorded number of rules violations on a single hole during sanctioned Tour competition.

In addition to violations recorded under the USGA Rules of Golf, the Committee assigned additional weight to recurring instances of:

1) Failure to announce playing out of turn

2) Caddies wagering against their own player

3) Excessive celebration and taunting

The Committee confirmed that this year’s selection process was highly competitive, with several players demonstrating exceptional commitment to regulatory complexity.

However, the final determination proved controversial following a late disqualification.

On Hole 14 at Rolling Hills CC, (Name) amassed a staggering nine distinct rules violations before reaching the green — a modern benchmark in administrative engagement. Observers described it as “layered.”

Unfortunately, upon completion of the round, (Name) signed an incorrect scorecard and was disqualified.

Because the round was nullified, his violations were deemed not to have officially occurred thus removing him from Bad Eighteen eligibility.

The Committee acknowledged the magnitude of the loss.

“It was one of the most complete procedural breakdowns we’ve ever witnessed,” (Name) Tour official stated. “But eligibility requires proper documentation. Without that, the infractions simply never happened.”

The Dubious Honor therefore passes to the next highest cumulative violator, (Name) whose eight infractions on Hole 3 at Willow Creek GC have now been formally recognized.

The 2025 recipient will receive:

1) A ceremonial asterisk lapel pin

2) A framed copy of the annotated rulebook sections involved

3) A blank scorecard (unsigned)

The GSTPA Tour reminds competitors that while performance may fluctuate, paperwork is permanent.
