Man Takes Three Swings To Course, Uses None Of Them
HOLDEN HEIGHTS — Local golfer Daniel Mercer reportedly arrived at Northern Pines Municipal Golf Course Saturday morning carrying three carefully selected golf swings, only to use none of them during his round.
According to playing partners, Mercer had prepared:
A “controlled fade” swing for tight fairways
A “trust the turn” swing for mid-irons
And what he described as a “confident, athletic release” for driver
Witnesses confirm all three remained unused.
“He had them,” said Jim, member of the foursome. “He demonstrated them in the parking lot. Slow motion. Very convincing.”
On the first tee, Mercer debuted an unrelated fourth motion his playing partners described as “abrupt,” “self-protective,” and “historically familiar.”
By the third hole, he had transitioned into his “temporary emergency swing,” typically seen during moments of personal reckoning.
When asked why he abandoned the three prepared swings, Mercer responded, “They felt theoretical.”
At press time, Mercer was seen on the driving range rehearsing what he described as “something much simpler this time.”
