New Apple iDriver Provides Subscription Based Swing Profiles
Apple has introduced the iDriver, a golf club equipped with over-the-air performance updates and subscription-based swing profiles. The device will be available to GSTPA Tour members beginning in the 2027 season.
The iDriver ships with a standard swing profile. Additional profiles—including Draw, Fade, and Temporary Confidence—are available through a monthly subscription.
A premium tier unlocks “Tour Mode,” which has been described as aspirational.
The club is designed to update automatically during play. Updates may install mid-swing.
According to Apple, this ensures golfers are always using the most recent version of themselves.
Battery life is rated for one 18-hole round. Under real-world conditions, this may vary based on frustration.
The device may enter low-power mode on the back nine.
Manual adjustments remain possible, but will not be tracked, stored, or improved.
“Golfers have been making manual adjustments for years,” said Daniel Webster, Director of Performance Integration. “We felt it was important to introduce a system that does not learn from them.”
Early testing indicates that the iDriver collects a significant amount of data, including swing speed, face angle, and regret.
Performance improvements have been categorized as pending.
In the event of a poor shot, users will be prompted to upgrade.
The GSTPA noted that the iDriver represents a continued shift toward technological solutions that expand capability without altering results.
Pre-orders are expected later this season.
Charging cable sold separately.
