GSTPA to Establish Qualifying School for Laggards
Montague, FL (9/15/2025) – In a move likely to confound members and delight the accounting department, the Grand Sham Tournament Players Association today announced sweeping updates to its membership qualifications along with a “modest” adjustment in the annual dues.
According to the GSTPA, the new qualifications are part of a rebuilding effort that is expected to improve the overall level of play on Tour and advance the organization’s commitment to mediocrity at a premium price.
“These exciting enhancements will ensure our membership remains as exclusive as it is unexceptional,” said Angus Duff, GSTPA Tour Policy Board Director.
Under the new guidelines, applicants will be required to provide evidence of having attempted to hit no less than three buckets of practice balls during the offseason, regardless of direction.
Completion of the requirement will be noted. Improvement will not.
“We feel that it is important that players on this tour are well grounded in the principles of the game,” Duff stated, “including a working understanding of which end of the club is the grip and which end is the clubface.”
Successful applicants who complete the qualifying review and submit annual dues of $25, reflecting a $5 increase over the previous year, will receive a 2026 Tour Card, making them eligible to compete in GSTPA-sponsored events worldwide, along with standard member benefits including free provisional balls, golf equipment retrieval rights, and a complimentary tin foil visor.
Benefits remain subject to availability and interpretation.
According to the GSTPA, membership revenue will continue to support planned improvements at Tour Headquarters, including a hot tub and wet bar.
“Golf is a traditional game,” Duff added, “and there is nothing more traditional than a price increase.”
