Definitely Not the U.S Open Slated for 'The Python Course'

The 2026 Definitely Not the U.S. Open, second leg of the legendary Grand Sham of golf, is scheduled to take place at the Constrictor Bay Club's Python course in the Florida Everglades next June.

Regarded as one of the most demanding golf courses in the world, the 7,000-yard Robert Frost design meanders through 190 acres of swamp land teeming with alligators and Burmese pythons.

"Missing a fairway around here can be lethal', said Tour veteran Billy Ray Parker.

The Python’s unique design adds to its difficulty as well as its appeal. Laid out on small patches of sandy soil jutting out from shallow swamp water, the par seventy layout is made up entirely of short par fives.

‘When you play the Python every shot is a tight lay-up from one sand bar to another,’ said local caddy Andy Bean. ‘You won’t need a driver around here, but a couple extra wedges and an AR-15 might come in handy'.

Those who attempt to play the Python are are advised to proceed with caution. In addition to deadly predators, players must also deal with boggy swamp water, suffocating heat and humidity, swarms of parasitic mosquitos and lack of a beverage cart.

Of the ninety-eight golfers who attempted to play the Python course last year, only thirty-two were able to complete an eighteen-hole round while seventeen are still missing.

The decision to stage a Sham event at the Python has drawn criticism from players, fans, and next of kin. While difficult conditions are expected, several veterans have described the venue as “less a test of golf and more a conversation about closure.”

Tournament officials however,  are quick to point out that this is not the case.

“We will not be trying to embarass the golfers on this tour”, said Chip McGrath, GSTPA Tournament Director, “we will be trying to identify those golfers still alive at the end of the round”.

While the Tour maintains that the Python Course will present a stiff test they expect the body count to be low as medical care will be readily available while the Constrictor Bay Club’s new thatched roof clubhouse will serve as a makeshift hospital.
