GSTPA Tour Player Profile - Al Lambert

When GSTPA Tour star Al Lambert isn’t out on the golf course trying to make cuts on the Grand Sham Tour, he’s busy working on a new instructional golf video entitled How to Score From Out of Bounds.

“It’s a joint venture with Bryson Chateau,” said Lambert. “Life is good.”

But according to Lambert, golf and life have not always been so good. After spending years languishing on the micro-tour circuit, including a stint on the Nassau County Municipal Tour, Lambert’s career finally took off when he became a full-fledged member of the GSTPA.

“I still have to pinch myself sometimes just to make sure this is actually happening to me,” he said.

Lambert, whose real name is Rory McIlroy - he changed his name because the press followed him everywhere he went - says that making the cut in the Grand Shamble at Reptile Ridge was the big break he has been waiting for.

“It’s was satisfying to have made the money list on my second try,” said Lambert.  “But after the win at Reptile Ridge, I feel like I’m close to being able to compete on this tour. Experience is the key. You’ve got to learn how not to get shammed out here.”
