GSTPA Tour Player Profile - Al Longtree

When GSTPA Tour veteran Al Longtree isn't out on the golf course trying to make cuts on the Grand Sham Tour, he's busy collaborating with golf influencer Bryson Chateau on a new social media training series entitled How to Score From Out of Bounds.

“It’s a content partnership,” said Longtree. “Life is good.”

But according to Longtree, golf and life have not always been so good. After spending years languishing on the micro-tour circuit, including a stint on the Nassau County Municipal Tour, Longtree’s career finally took off when he became a full-fledged member of the GSTPA.

“I still have to pinch myself sometimes just to make sure this is actually happening to me,” he said.

Longtree, whose real name is Rory McIlroy - he changed it after growing tired of media attention and constant autograph requests - says that after his second-place finish in the Shitish Open at Sandy Spur Links he knew he belonged on this circuit.

“It’s satisfying to know I can compete with these guys." said Longtree.  “Experience is the key. You’ve got to learn how not to get shammed out here.”
